Family Photography

Every family is unique, and your photo session should reflect that! I focus on capturing a blend of posed family portraits and candid, documentary-style moments to help preserve all the precious memories you share. Have pets? I love when they join in on the fun! They add an extra layer of personality and joy to the session.

HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT A FAMILY SESSION?

FAQ

How do you approach family photo sessions?

Family photo sessions are all about capturing the unique bond and personality of your family in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. I work with each family member to ensure everyone feels comfortable and included, whether it’s through candid moments or posed shots. We can discuss the style you prefer—whether you want a more traditional, classic look or a laid-back, lifestyle approach. The goal is to create photos that reflect the love and connection you share, so we’ll take the time to make sure everyone is comfortable and enjoying the experience.

where should we have our family photo session?

The location of your family photo session depends on the vibe you're looking for! Here are a few options to consider:

At Home- If you want a more personal, cozy feel, your home is a wonderful option. It offers a relaxed environment where your family can be themselves, and we can capture those candid, everyday moments. Plus, it’s a place filled with memories that will make your photos even more meaningful.

Local Park- For a fresh, outdoor vibe, a local park or natural setting is a great choice. You’ll have beautiful scenery, from green fields to wooded areas or even lakes. The natural light and open space allow for fun, energetic shots and plenty of variety in your photos.

Urban Locations- If your family loves the city, we can explore urban environments like the 3rd Ward, Veteran's Park, or The Deer District, with cool streets, alleyways, and architectural features to give your photos a modern, vibrant feel.

Ultimately, it’s all about what feels right for your family. I’m here to help you choose the best spot that matches your personality and vision for the session!

what should we wear for our family photos?

The goal is to look coordinated and feel comfortable, so here are a few tips to help you choose the perfect outfits:

Coordinated, Not Matching- It’s best to choose colors and styles that complement each other rather than everyone wearing the same exact thing. Pick a color palette with 3-4 colors that work well together (think neutrals with pops of color or soft pastels). This gives a cohesive look without being too matchy-matchy.

Avoid Distracting Patterns- Simple patterns like stripes, plaids, or florals can work, but try to avoid clothing with overly bold or busy prints. Solid colors often look timeless and keep the focus on you and your family.

Comfort is Key- Make sure everyone feels comfortable in what they’re wearing, especially if you have little ones. Avoid clothing that’s too tight or too loose, and consider layers if the weather might change. Everyone should feel like themselves!

Textures Add Depth- Incorporating different textures (like knit sweaters, denim, or linen) can add visual interest and depth to your photos, making them feel more dynamic.

Footwear Matters- Choose shoes that are both stylish and practical, especially if we’re shooting outdoors. Coordinating footwear with your outfits can add a polished touch to the overall look.

Think About the Location- Consider the environment where the session will take place. For example, if it’s an outdoor shoot, comfortable shoes and layers might be a good idea. For an indoor shoot, you can dress more casually or elegantly depending on your style.

If you're unsure about your outfits, feel free to send me photos beforehand or ask for advice! I’m here to help make sure everyone looks and feels their best.
